Character Macarons

Being able to move on from the basic round macarons and step it up to make character macarons have been so exciting!! Even though they are much more difficult and require a lot more patience, it has been incredible to see the versatility of macarons!! Here are some of my favorite characters that I’ve made so far (in no particular order)!!

Minions!

This was probably the most challenging character to make because of how intricate it is. I had to create separate colored batters and pipe the different parts at separate times. For example, I pipe the yellow body first, waited for it to dry, then piped the overalls and the goggles. I actually did the eyes and the little details after they were done baking. The eyes were white and black melting chocolate and the rest were done in edible marker! Even though it took me hours to make them, they were worth it in the end when John Cohen, the producer of Despicable Me, commented on my post!!

Nemo!

This was a similar process to the minion ones. But I won’t lie it was even harder, especially because of the tail. Doing the white lines in the orange batter was definitely something that took me the longest time because despite letting it dry fully, the orange would bleed into the white and it would lead to a mess! It took me a couple of tries to finally get it right! Also, I decided to pipe the eyes with the batter rather than melting chocolate, and even though it worked out, it required the most patience to make sure they were somewhat circular!

Winnie the Pooh!

This was the easiest and one of the cutest character macarons yet! I’ve been doing bear-shaped macarons for a while so this was just an extension of that but with the little mouth part, which was very easy to add. This is definitely a character macaron I’ve sold a lot more than the others due to how quick and easy it is to make it! Let me know if you guys would like a tutorial!

Peppa pig!

I never even thought of making Peppa Pig macarons until one day, one of my mom’s friends wanted to order some for her daughter’s birthday. I think this was one of the first more intricate character macarons I made but I took up the challenge! I used candy eyes and an edible marker to add the details. This was a super exciting bake and I loved how it turned out!

Minnie Mouse!

I will admit, I went the slightly easier route when making these macarons. I could have gone the harder way and actually piped out her face but I decided to do a different, more “abstract” version. But I will definitely remake them with her face in the future so look out for that! I used royal icing and melting chocolate to make the outfit and fondant for the bows. I still loved how they turned out and they were a hit at a Minnie-themed party!!

There are so many more characters I can make and I am excited to try to bake them in the future!! Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas on what I should bake next!!
