I love creating cheerful tablescapes. And for me spring is one of my favorite seasons, of course after fall! To me a spring tablescape is all about florals and greens. However, I am a huge fan of everything farmhouse. So I sprinkle in farmhouse elements with some gold here and there.
With the current situation and we all being in a country wide lockdown due to COVID 19, I just took everything we had at home and in our yard to create this spring tablescape. Obviously, we were not entertaining anyone but I just put together this spring tablescape for the blog.
Our dining table has a rustic wood surface and I chose not to cover it with a tablecloth. I left it bare. Now I will breakdown this spring tablescape for you to help you understand my thoughts around this set up.
To begin with we have a gorgeous wallpaper on our dining room wall. And I thank my mom for picking that.
As I said our rustic looking table is from Macy’s and is my all-time favorite.
I used a set of gold chargers that we picked up from Michaels and a set of cream ceramic plates that we picked up from Homegoods.
I also used a couple of varieties of wine glasses. The tumbler I intend to use for just water and the other stemmed glass can be for wine. I used a couple of glass bottles too. These would be filled with water.
I used a set of gold flatware that we picked from World Market. And the little gold from the charger plates and the flatware just accentuates the spring tablescape especially because I chose to keep the table bare.
Now coming to the most favorite part about this setup. I used a set of small terracotta pots for every plate. What better to depict spring than something like this. I filled the terracotta pot halfway with some old newspaper and then cut off some succulents from our garden and placed one in each of them. Remember the succulent flowers that you pick should be big enough for the pot and must hid all the newspaper underneath. I think this was my most favorite element of this spring tablescape.
I painted a little 3inch by 2inch piece of card stock with some pink watercolor and then put the words “The joys of spring”. I used one such card stock for each plate.
Now coming to the center piece of this spring tablescape. Firstly, we had a rustic wooden tray in our bar. I used it in the center and I placed a ceramic flower pot in it and filled it with Lavandula stems from our yard. I used another Farmhouse style metal watering can in the tray and filled it with Trumpet vines again from our yard. The vines just add to the spring feeling. I had some art deco bottles and a bottle of olive oil and balsamic on the tray too. I added a little jar of lavender salt that mom had picked from Williams Sonoma along with the olive oil and balsamic. I also placed a decorated multicolored little card stock box that I often use. I add this box as it is a bright orange and blue and helps to add some pop and color to the entire setting. I also added a birch bark covered candle that someone had gifted us to the tray.
I had a two- tier gold and cream pastry stand which I filled with green grapes and lemons from our yard. What better to signify spring than fresh fruits and flowers.
This was about it and everything was sourced from what we had at home. It is great fun to put something together especially in times like this. I know these are not the best times but little things go a long way and happy family meals always bring joy and hope.
I wish you and your family a happy spring. Take care!
