Hey there!! My name is Shrobana, and I’m now a 19-year-old college student at UC Berkeley living in the Bay Area. (I started this blog when I was 16 in high school!!)
Ever since I was little, I’ve always found joy in arts and crafts. Creating something from a random inspiration from somewhere was and continues to be my greatest escape. Whether it be making rainbow loom phone cases to friendship bracelets when I was 6 to making greeting cards later, my mom calls me a vintage soul, and she is right. I love taking rustic, old-world charm, inspiring ideas and use them to effectively convey different emotions through my handmade cards. The moment when all the elements of a design come together and create an impact, it is an absolutely exhilarating feeling.
In middle school, I started making handmade cards, and my mom started a Facebook page for me called Cards by G. People soon started to like my cards and ordered them from me, and before I knew I had this cute little gig going. Every holiday season, I have been able to donate the proceeds from card sales to charities, like St. Jude. And that accomplishment has encouraged me to bring you today my first online home, Meraki-X.
Meraki is a word which modern Greeks often use to describe doing something with soul, creativity, or love! Literally translated, you need to put something of yourself in whatever you do. I love this word. I feel that every single thing that we do should be from our souls. What is the point of doing anything if there is no creativity in it? So this space will be about my creative pursuits of everyday life when my Meraki kicks, my Meraki-X.
I am also a home decor aficionado like my parents. We rebuilt and re-decorated our California home two years back. I have been as involved in the process as my mom and dad and absolutely loved it. My paternal grandpa and my dad are both civil engineers, so I guess I can blame my genes to justify my obsession with symmetry and balance.
Last but not the least, I love to bake. I am also extremely interested in food styling and creating stunning tablescapes for entertaining. I have been my mom’s sidekick for too long, but now Meraki-X will be my playground.
This space will be all about design, lifestyle inspirations, decor, fashion, or anything that comes out of my teen brain. And most importantly, everything that I post here will be about sustainable choices when it comes to the environment. The world needs all of us to start thinking about it. And if not now, then when? So EVERY SINGLE THING on this blog will be about reuse, recycle, and repurpose and that too with a lot of style and meraki!!!
