Friendsgiving Tablescape

I love creating tablescapes, and what occasion is more exciting than Thanksgiving to create one! In my case, this was Friendsgiving. I decided to host Friendsgiving at my place with my friends this year, especially since this is our last year together in high school. We decided to do a potluck, and I was really excited about planning the evening. I wanted to focus my energy more on the décor. However, when it came to food, I did end up making the centerpiece, a whole roasted chicken (we don’t like turkey 😬).
This post is essentially about the tablescape, but it’s more of a pictorial post. But, I will break down the elements of the décor.

Our dining table has a very rustic surface, and I always love leaving it alone and never covering it. This time I got cream and shimmery gold table runner that had the quintessential holiday feel to it. I used our regular teal placements, gold charger plates, as well as cream-colored, rustic-looking ceramic plates. The stemmed glasses I used had a goldish hue to them, along with the golden cutlery. I used light brown cloth napkins and even made place cards for all of my friends!

This time I decided to put a lot of candles in the center. I used a mix of candlesticks and some pillar candles. I actually bought a set of industrial-looking gold candlesticks from TJ Maxx and some taper candles in fall tones like orange, green, and gold. Along with this, I put some bark-surfaced pillar candles in between them. I kept a few small pumpkins and pomegranates from my garden around the center of the table. Most importantly, I had a small chalkboard sign saying “Happy Friendsgiving!”

I believe the real centerpiece of this setup was the flower vases. I reused a cookie jar (the bigger one in the center) from mom’s kitchen and a couple of recycled mason jars that once held pasta sauce for the vases. I wrapped some twine around the vases to give them a rustic look. I think the element that I spent the most time on was the flowers, as we did not have a lot around the garden. I bought bright yellow sunflowers, purple and burgundy mums, and different types of white filler flowers like baby’s breath.

It was a simple tablescape, but when we lit the candles and sat around the table reminiscing about our high school years, the ambiance was magical. We definitely made memories for life.
